I RECENTLY CHANGED THE SEATS IN MY 87 RED VETTE. MOUNTED LEATHER SEATS FROM CORVETTE AMERICA. QUESTION...THEY ARE STIFF AS A BOARD,IS THERE ANY WAY TO SOFTEN THEM UP? I ALSO CHANGED THE CARPET AND FLOOR MAT WITH THE C4 LOGO ON IT. CARPET WAS PAIN IN THE BADOOSHKA! MY VETTE OLY HAS 49K MILES. I AM THE 3RD OWNER. CAR RUNS FANTASTIC AND NOW LOOKS EVEN BETTER!,:cool

"Babooshka" is teh Russian word for Grandmother, DONT ASK WHAT THIS MEANS, badooshka!!!!!!

If you mean the leather is stiff try applying Lexol on them, it's a leather treatment. Google it.

I think the problem here is that you are used to your worn out seat pads. I switched the driver and passenger seat cushions in my 90,,,, ended up switching them back because I was so used to my sinking seat that I didn't like the other cushion. :L

I AM TRYING NOT TO THINK LIKE THAT, BUT I KNOW THAT IS THE PROBLEM. I GOT USED TO THE WORN SEATS. NOW I KNOW NOT TO RUSH INTO BUYING THINGS FOR MY VETTE WITHOUT REALLY INVESTIGATING AND LOOKING AROUND AND ASKING ALL YOU GUYS FOR THEIR OPINIONS AND THEN MAKE MY FINAL DECISION! THANKS.

P.S. SO THERE IS NO WAY TO SOFTEN THE FOAM?

PAUL

going to the drag strip and do some 5000 rpm launches breaks them in right now:upthumbs

Too bad you missed my previous warnings on just about every Vette forum when someone asks about new seats....

THERE is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO SOFTEN THEM UP! Unless maybe you hire some 350 lb goon to drive your car.... even then the leather is likely to wear first! I've got several thousand miles on mine and even had the kids jump on them and they still S%^*K! Pain in the Dupa!
Return them NOW if you can!
I also stupidly bought from Corvette America and it is NOT the proper OEM foam. Why? My GUESS is that there were complaints about when you have the perforated covers and the proper bolster density the leather cracks and wears faster. The more dense foam makes it LOOK better longer.

Since after I bought them Mid America is now pointing out that THEY use the CORRECT Density Foam. I am seriously considering reordering from them to see if there really is a difference.
If not I will use my old foam and recover them.

Yup, which also in Polish is the word for the kerchief (ala "doo rag") a grandmother is likely to wear on her head....I dont know which came first the kerchief or the grandmother term:chuckle
And a Balabushka is a pool cue named for the master craftsman George Balabushka.

Purchased mine from Willcox Corvette at Willcox Corvette, Inc. - Parts, Restoration, Help - "When you're not the biggest, You try harder" . If I remember correctly, these were drop shipped from Mid-America. Excellent color match and no issues with foam stiffness. Lost ~1/2" in head room which is understandable due to age. In 1989, GM stopped using the perforated leather. Scan this post to see what they look like. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/c4-technical-performance/112396-c4-seat-belt-recall.html
