OK, about a month ago I went out for a ride and the check engine light came on. I then purchased a scanner to read the codes and it was a Cat-inefficiency error (figured it was an O2 sensor or bc it was cold). I deleted it and have had no problems.
Today I smelt sulfur for about 3 seconds when my oil temp was about 175F and my coolant was at 190-200F. When I got home the engine was fully warmed up and I took temps with a lazer gun.
Cats: 160F
Exhaust Manafold: 375F Left-side / 400F right side
I am in the process of learning how to use the scanner when the engine is running, but I have had too much to do to even pick up the instruction book.
These look like the original cats (68k miles).
Does anyone know how to tell if you need new cats/ O2 sensors?
What should the exhaust manafold temp be?
Might as well ask this just in case.
Do performance cats pass emissions like stock ones?
Do performance cats cause the check engine light to come on?
Has anyone had any experience with performance cats/ reccomend a certain type of cat?
Thanks for everyones help!:cool
