I got a call from my dealer a couple days ago letting me know that my car was built and ready to ship and that it should be here shortly.

I called them back today to see if they had any idea of when the car would actually arrive and was told that my car is built but is on supplier hold for a missing part. It should be a few more days to get this part.

I guess the car will sit there outside in rain or shine. . . oh well

Anyone know what this part is?

Having been a guest worker at BG this doesn't sound correct but it could be true.First a car is not normally built unless the parts are all there. If Something like chrome wheels are temp out of stock the car is not produced at all.

Yes there are a couple hundred vetts sitting on a secured site for up to two weeks prior to shippment .Yes it rains snows and sleets in BG .The cars do have a protective coating over some of the car ,but not all.

Dealer prep. is when the new kid gets to use the 20 yr old srub brush--(just kidding)

Your dealer has the means to be able to find out whats going on .Press him ,it's his duty

If there is an issue with parts the car is outside in the repair lot waiting for parts or a resolution and yes your Corvette will get wet either way, by water testing or sitting there. It has not hurt any of my Corvettes or other cars. No one at the plant will purposely marr your baby. The Corvette team are very concerned about this.

I just found this in another forum:

“No big deal. From what I was told, there was a small batch of parts that weren't up to spec...I think a module. They are swapping them out before they ship to the dealers rather than have the dealers do it. I have about a dozen cars having the swap done as we speak.

This is a great example of the good QC work done by the factory. I'm glad they caught it before we got them here!”

And

“… I got a little more info. It was the EZ Start Module. What would happen is that you would get in the car and go to start it and you would get a message that there was no FOB present. The car would still start by placing the FOB in the glove box slot. Annoying, but no too serious. They are swapping modules now.”

It sounds like mine needs a new EZ Start Module. Good thing it was caught now instead of a recall or inconvenience later. . . I can wait a few more days to get it right. . .

I'd rather have them keep a car to make it right than depend on the dealer to fix it. Tom and the plant engineers will make sure it's done right. Don't worry about the rain and exposure - they're permanent press.

it took my 05 4 weeks from when it was built till it arrived at the dealers. it had 29 miles on the odometer when it rolled off of the truck as it was used for a quailty check by the factory. my 05 C-6 was a early build but i never had any problems with it so i guess the quaility check found any problems. my 08 has to have the home link visor replace because it can not be programmed for my garage door opener even using the help phone# in the owner manual.

Guess my '08 was caught up in the same hold. I was initially told that it was ready for shipment on Sept 4th with an expected delivery day of Sept 11th. On the 11th my dealer tells me that my car was pulled into "Quality Control" and that the shipment had been delayed. Yesterday, my dealer informs me that the status had changed to "bathed and ready for shipment" again.

I'd rather have them fix it at the plant than have to deal with the bug here.

I just got back from my dealer and with the sales manager, we called the plant to get an update on this situation.

After a long time on hold, the very nice lady came back on the phone just to tell us that there is no update, dates or confirmation on what the hold up is.

Oh well, I guess there is nothing to do but wait. The lack of information is the annoying part.

I hope these cars turn out okay and don't get damaged in the repair proecess

I emailed the assembly plant asking if they could give me more information on this issue. I was surprised to get an answer, but the answer was a "canned" response that did not answer my question and directed me to my dealer for details.

I wonder where the "other forum" gets their information?

The most detailed information on that forum came from a very high volume dealer. I suspect that GM treats you pretty good when you purchase a lot of vehicles.

By new Vette has changed status, according to my dealer, 3 or 4 times in the last week. One day it is shows as available for shipment, then it's shown as being in quality control. According to my dealer, my car rolled off the line September 4th and when "ready for shipment" the next day. Then QC got in there. Yesterday, it's 'ready for shipment' again. It's a little frustrating to say the least.

On top of that, my dealer either can't get a straight answer as to why the hold up or he can't tell me what's up.

Just venting.

This exact scenario just happened to a buddy of mine. His car: 2006 A6. It had been driven all day and he shut it down to wipe it down in the driveway and bingo "no FOBS detected." He pushed the bottom of the start button for 6 seconds, everything came up, he started the car no problem. (BTW, his voltage was 12.8VDC, static.)

Anyone know if the EZ start module affects 2006MY?

I see that Corvette Conti's web site has a little info on this and a picture. Something called the "EZ KEY MODULE" seems to be the problem. Check out http://www.corvetteconti.com/blog/ then scroll down to the 3rd story.
