:wAnyone out there have an easy way to install new door weatherstripping on a freshly painted door without getting that yellow 3M glue all over the place?I have a green 72 coupe, that yellow glue shows up real bright on that green. I know someone has a trick out ther to make this job a bit cleaner and easier. Thanks for any help you can give me! Ron,;help

I have used the yellow 3M weatherstripping adhesive before. It's great stuff. The only advice I can give is to do it in small sections. I started at the front of the door (door hinge area) and worked my way down then along the bottom and then up the back.
One trick with the yellow 3M glue is that once it is on the weatherstripping is to pull it apart from the door and put it back together a few times until it gets tacky (stringy) then firmly put the weatherstripping where you want it.
It's frustrating but it's not too bad once you get the hang of it.
Good Luck!

And make sure you clean the gluing surface on the new weatherstrip first with alcohol to remove the mold-release compound, or the glue won't bond to it. :thumb

You can also get a can of 3M's Weatherstrip Adhesive remover for cleanup. I put new 'strip on Ol' Red last winter. Started at one end, worked small sections at a time, I put the adhesive on the weatherstrip, placed it on the door, pulled it off, then stuck it back on. As soon as I got all the way around and got the screws back in I shut the door overnight.
