I am in the process of evaluating what engine I should put in my car 1965 Vette. The current engine is not the orginal, so that isn't a concern. I would like something with a little zip and there has been some recomendations of the ZZ4.

Any feed back?

pwilly65,

I moved this from the Introduction Forums down here. I think you may get a better response to your question here ;)

Welcome pwilly!

Welcome to Corvette Action Center.

I don't have an answer for your question and particular year stingray, but I have a GM crate in my 78 and I couldn't be happier!

Overall, I think once you decide the type of driving you wish to do and pick an appropriate engine...buying one ready to drop right in has to be the best thing since sliced bread.

What is your "right now" budget? That has a lot to do with what you can do.
You can buy a motor, but you still have to pay for the installation and extra parts here and there.

If you are not interested in keeping it original, what is your HP/TQ goal.
You can build a pretty decent 350 CID that puts out a reliable 350 HP/350 TQ.
Or you could get a stroker 383...
Or you could go with the ZZ4...

It all depends on what your long term goal is, and what type of driving you do.

I installed in my 63 Coupe an engine from Procell Brothers in Texas (383 cui, 440 HP, 440 ft-lbs) This is an original looking engine and with its Barry Grant I can really awe people on German Autobahns. NO SPEED LIMIT HERE!!!
