Hello,
Just picked-up a Collector's Edition last night. Have even more questions now than before I bought it. No owner's manual, so some ??? may be dumb.
First off the power seats; I think it has the dual option, but I cannot get the passenger seat to move. Doesn't the center console switch select between the two..the one marked DS and PS? The driver's side moves fine, but can only get the lumbar to work on the passenger seat.

Car has the F-45 option, Selective Ride Control....how can I really tell if its works on not? When can you change the setting...does the car need to be stopped or anything like that?

Is there a way to run the computer system check, like it does when you start the car?

I am use to my '81 Corvette....very simple electronics...

Thanks to all in advance.

The switch on your console should allow you to adjust the passenger seat or drivers seat, must be something loose or disconnected if it doesn't work. The F45 switch can be moved while the car is in motion. Try it on a bumpy road between the settings and you should notice the difference. You could buy a OBDII scanner for about a hundred bucks to check for any codes, but i do not know of any other checks that could be made. Keep a eye on your water pumop, if it leaks it will ruin the Opti Spark unit. it is your distributer and it is below the water pump. take care when washing or cleaning not to spray water directly on it. Congrats on your new ride.

remove seat cushion by reaching under the front and slipping the wire loop down off the front of the frame. Cushion will then pop out exposing the vacuum lines.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. FYI you can buy a manual @ www.helminc.com good luck, Guy

Nice choice (LT4). I wouldn't mind having one myself some day, as they really are a unique corvette. It's my favorite C4 next to the ZR-1's.

Congrat's ,just bought my LT4 Collectors Edition this year you'll love it

Congrats on your new ride! I bought my 96 Collector a little over a month ago and it's been great . . . so far . . .

Re- your selective ride feature; I took mine out on a windy road early this morning (while the law was still having donuts) and went through the RTD settings. The system has little to react to at slow speeds. You will probably not notice much difference until you get up to 50 or 60 on some curves. At that point it should be very apparent. Also, try making a rapid stop in each of the settings, in the "performance" setting you should notice far less nose dive in a rapid stop.

Your owner's manual will give you the basics but you can get a full set of shop manuals from Corvette Central for about $135.00.

My Vette had 50,000 mi. on it when I picked it up so, one of the first things I did was change the fuel filter, not as easy as the "101 Projects" book makes it out to be but a huge difference in engine performance. Next time I'll try to change it without taking the filter strap all the way off. It took me an hour and a half to get the frame screw back in that little bastard!

Good choice...the LT4 is great. BTW my"convertible" has a fuse for the F-45 system in the compartment under the mat behind the drivers seat..this is indicated in the manual. Changes in the F-45 settings are not that easy to notice at low speeds on smooth surfaces. The previous posts make some good suggestions regarding dealing with this. I would pick up a manual. Enjoy.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome and the helpful tips. Will be taking off the passenger seat cushion to get at those wires.

Also in the console I found three wires that had been taped together, not connected, just taped together....that and a 45 cal hollow point round!!! Not the sort of thing I really want to find.

Another thing is that the left front speaker is dead and I assume it it the amp. How do I get to it? What has to come off?

Is there a compartment behind the driver like the passenger's side or is this a dummy cover? Again I am used to my 81 with the two compartments behind the seats.

The rear window weatherstripping is torn at the corners and was wondering if I should replace it or just "fix it" with black silicon? If replace, who has the best replacement part?

I could ask questions for hours.....

Thanks,

is the window leaking? the corners tearing is common, but doesn't usually cuase leaks. if it doesn't leak, i suggest just letting it be, as that stripping isn't cheap.

There is accessory wires in the center console, that should be what you are looking at. it allows you to hard wire whatever you may need. sounds like the previous owner actually used it for something.

Considering the wires seem used, you may check the connection in the center console area before the seat area... it is more likely to be a bad connection there since it was 'touched'.

LannyL81,
I’m late to the game, but I wanted to say congrats on the LT4!

Any kind soul out there whom has the Corvette Service Manuals want to help me out?

I just need the circuit for the power seat selector switch in the console. Actually I think I just need to know where the relay is out that switches the position switch between the two seats. I know the actual DS / PS switch is working as the lumbar buttons all switch between seats. But the 6 way switch does not.

I found three relays under the driver's cushion, but have no idea if one of these is it or not.

Thanks,

power seats

Congrats on the new CE!I am kinda partial to them!Hey,about your passenger seat, pull the cushion for the DRIVERS side(or just slide the seat all the way back) there should be two(black) connectors below the whole seat frame(fwd side of seat).Try swapping the two.Sometimes for whatever reason, these get swapped up and only the drivers side seat will work(other than the lumbar for the other). This fixed mine, only after I bought a new switch, removed both seats, and the console. If that doesnt fix it,and you need a switch,I now have one I will sell cheap.:D If you need some pics of what I am talking about, let me know, and I'll send you some.Shannon

Shannon,

Sent you a private message, was trying to catch you online.

The two black connectors under the driver's seat are correctly mated as far as wire colors go; match on both sides of the connectors. Need more help.
