Welcome aboard mojorising. We need a little more info. I'm not sure what you mean by "will not start". Does it make any noise when trying to start? Does the motor turn over but not fire? When I first got mine I had a similar problem, It was a loose battery connector.
Good Luck

Hey Mojo, I had a similar problem with my first Vette a 91 convertible. Would turn the key and have full power everywhere but the engine would not turn. Turned out that the starter was going bad. The position under the hood on those years exposed it to a lot of heat. I would try later and it would work. If it is the original starter, that might be where you want to start.

Good luck and report back.

Welcome to the :CAC. Save the wave :WAVE. Your Mechanic is probly right, but I would start by looking at the starter. If your starter is bad sometimes it acts like you don't have power. Your starter has to be replaced after usually about 70-85k miles. How many miles do you have?

thanks for answering no noise at all turn the key nothing happens other then power from the battery

If it starts cold, you drive it until everything is good and hot, stop for a bit and it won't start? That sounds like heat-soak to me.

My 78 had that problem. I'd either have to wait for a bit until it cooled or sometimes Kenny could crawl under it and tap on the starter and we'd get going again. We replaced the starter and bought a heat shield and have had no more problems. ...that was 11 years ago...

First Welcome to CAC.......

Believe it or not this happened to me. I was driving my 93 Vette all day no problems went to work got off early went home. Then to the doctor’s drove there turn the car off did what i had to do and jumped in expecting the usual and nothing. Full power to all gauges and lights everything radio powered up. Walked around the opened hood and everything fine. Now your going to think i'm nuts but it's true on my 93 so i hope the 92 is similar. Called my mechanic and he walks up to the drivers side looks down where the battery is check makes sure there tight then pulls a fuse cover off and pulls out a large green fuse. Scrapes it off a little plugs back in and says all set Ummmmmm. Ok

Started right up he said go out and buy a couple of new fuses because the water that drains from the hood latch falls directly on this fuse block so it corroded the connections. I hope this helps .... It did mine seriously:)
