Well, I did it.... I don't have the 78 anymore. My neighbor chewed me out for it already. She said "YOU DID WHAT???", and I followed with "Well, this one is seven years old... and I will keep it for another 10."

I decided that it was time to move on in terms of where my projects were going. So, I have moved on (or up) to a C5. I really enjoyed rebuilding my 78 into a serious long distance touring car, but I was terrified to drive it in the rain or on any day that wasn't sunny. Go figure. I built a driver but never drove it as much as I should. I averaged about 30K in miles since 1998. In six years... thats only 5K a year. I was chainging my oil more than I drove it in a year!!! That sort of thinkng led me to buying a Z28 as a beater. Another V-8 as a daily driver, thats when you know you have a problem.

Its done- the 78 is in someone else's hands and they share the same vision for it. They want to install 69MyWay's new electric headlights as part of the overall concept.

I have wanted a C5 since their debut in 97. Now I have one. So,let the tinkering continue--

nice man i hope you enjoy it! What year did you get and is it standard or automatic? How many miles?

Good Luck With It!
Andy

congrats on the c5, you're going to love it. tell us some details. :beer

I was very happy with my '97. However, there are a few known issues with the '97. I would be certain that the stock type battery is replaced. Other issues (column lock, fuel pump whine, etc) can be seen in previous threads.

Enjoy the new ride! The C5 is a great driver. My '97 had almost 80,000 on it when I sold it.

My 97 has 50K on it- but its a one owner car. The original owner leased the car but liked it so much that he wanted to purchase it at the end of the lease. I am still trying to figure out exactly what options it has on it... that sounds terrible, but I bought because of the excellent condition it was in... not because specifically for the options. Its never been wrecked, has NO SCRATCHES on it at all and not a stain in the interior! It has the light gray interior with the automatic transmission. Oh, and the tires are new with the green and red paint lines still on them.

What really sold me on it was the fact that at 40 mph I stepped on it and it barked the tires! Wow. I haven't seen too many 50k cars that were able to do that. No leaks, squeaks, or creaks. The weatherstripping is PERFECT. Thats impressive.

I think I paid maybe $1K more than I should have but I'm not too worried. The outstanding condition its in makes it more like a 00 than a 97. Thats what I paid for.

THE BEST PART-
I let my wife drive it yesterday... she loves it too! She said that I had a problem and she didn't know what car I would de driving from now on!

Excellent! You can find your option codes on the inside of one of the hatch lids in the "trunk".

OPTIONS-
Dual Climate control
Sport Seats
Luggage shade and net
Bose stereo with CD
Fog Lamps
Light grey interior
Arctic white

Thats it. It doesn't have the performance axle or real time dampening. I don't care though.

yea 97s are the rare year for C5 a very low production year. I love mine its awesome! Whatever you do dont burn up those tires. I have to get new ones soon and they are like 350 a piece!!!

Good Luck With It!
Andy
