Hey there everyone... I need to buy a new shifter, my original shifter is definitly shot. I already rebuilt it once and it seems the housing for the shifter has actually weakened as it is all bent out of shape.... My question is, does anyone have any recommendations on a good shifter for a RPO m-21 four speed? It looks like I am gonna be dropping around $200 and I want to make sure I get the right thing....

Get a Hurst and the bolt-on look-alike lever; you'll never have to touch it again, and nobody will know the difference.

Hey thanks for the advice, I definitly am looking at a hurst or a B&M shifter but I have been looking for hours, there are soooo many different shifters... yet none of them seem to be for a m-21 corvette?!?! I can get the shifter from Paragon-Corvette for $185 which seems about reasonable, however I would definitly rather go with Hurst or B & M if I could find the right part... anyone got a good idea or model to look for?

oops I lied... I just found the "universal Indy 4-speed shifter" which claims to fit 53-82 corvettes for arbout the same as the original paragon shifter... still looking tho, i would rather stay away from the word universal.... haha

Are you sure you have a M-21 trans? Count the number of bolts on the side cover. 7=Muncie, 9=Borg-Warner

Actually you are right, it is the "RPO M-21" which i do believe is the borg warner, I think muncie's quit in 72?!? but you are right it isn't actually the muncie but since they call it the "RPO M-21" I always slip up on that one... thanks for picking that up, I hate putting out bad info, but unfortunatly for me it is the same boat... all I can find is a standard Universal Indy Hurst shifter that says it fits everything from 53-82... should I just hope that works? or go with the GM shifter from Paragon? they are both within 5$ of each other so cost isn't an issue....

I have a Hurst comp plus ( I think it's called) in mine with the Borg super t10 trans. I don't care for the stick it self as it seems too tall but if you get the bolt on retro stick it would probably be back to stock height.
