Guys,
I really like the later style Vette wheels (spoked so you can see the brake calipers) but I realize there are size and centerline balance issues.
Are there later style wheels for the C4 (86).
Thanks,
Tom R

You have to get the proper offset. I think for the '86 you need 36-38 mm offset. I've got 2000 style C5 rims on my '90, I went with the sock size 17 X 9.5 all around. The offset for my car was 50mm. One of my friends from work asked if I got a new car after I put the rims on. It really makes a difference.

84-87 Vettes used a 38mm offset wheel and 88 and later cars had a 56mm offset. There are companies like AFS Wheels ( www.afswheels.com )that make a specific 38mm offset ZR-1 style wheel for the 84-87 cars but I have not seen any C5 wheels that are made with that offset.
You can get wheel adapters that will allow the use of OEM C5 wheels but expect to pay upwards of $200 for an adapter set. Adapters have an acorn-style lug that is used to bolt the adapter to the hub and this lug typically protrudes beyond the wheel mouting flange of the adapter. Factory wheels have recesses on the mounting flange that allows the lug to sit inside that recess so that the wheel fits flush.

I've seen chromed Z06 wheels on a red C4 and it looked absolutely awesome! :beer
