New targa top for my '84

GOT BACK FROM BLOOMINGTON GOLD LAST WEEK WITH MY NEW BRONZE TINT TOP FROM MELROSE - GREAT PEOPLE, WONDERFUL PRODUCT. MELROSE GAVE ME A VENDOR PASS AND HAD ME DRIVE RIGHT TO THEIR STALL, WHERE THEY ADJUSTED AND FITTED IT PROPERLY FOR ME. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY THE RIGHT PLACE TO GO. THEY DEALT FAIRLY AND HONESTLY, STAND UP GUYS.

BEING MY FIRST CORVETTE SHOW, WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE. EVERYONE WAS HAPPY TO HELP OR DIRECT ME, WHEN I WAS FINDING MY WAY AROUND. EVERYONE, INCLUDING THE STAFF, WAS VERY APPROACHABLE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. I LOOK FORWARD TO RETURNING AND PLANNING A RUN OUT TO CARLISLE.

I'd sure have liked to see how they adjust the fittings....I have done it, but it was "trial & error"....more error than anything else. After lifting that top on/off about 15 times I felt like I'd been stacking hay bails !

New Targa

Boom,

Would like to tell ya how they made it happen, but I drove it to their booth and parked it. Three of their guys jumped on it like it was a 2010 C6 and it was their's - and went to town, while I took care of the paper work and got the does and don'ts of the break-in. In addition, when I asked if they thought new weather strip was in order for the body, they suggested against it, then explained why. And I'm thinking they could have easily talked me into it, but like I said - they are stand up guys over there at Melrose. Next thing I know, I have a beautiful Melrose top on my girl.

I hope yours doesn't warp or crack. Mine warped along the rear after a few months. Then just now it cracked while sitting. It's not even a year old yet. I've heard of others having the same problem of it warping along the rear, and cracking in a short amount of time. I believe Melrose tops have a product defect.
