I just had my new cragars installed on my car, they look great but I have a problem. I had 67 turbines on it with 215 70r 15 tires and everything worked great. but the new cragars have to have a 1/2" spacer to miss the brake callipers. I went ot 205 70r 15 tires because I could see right away the 215 size would hit in the rear. But even with the new smaller tires It still was rubbing .So I brought the camber in (neg) to miss the lip of the wheel well but it is so far out of specs now that I know its going to eat these tires up. I know others have run cragers on there mid years ,whats the fix. Thanks for any help. By the way the old rims and the new ones are 15x6.

Are you really willing to live with that kind of compromise? I'd take them back to wherever you bought them and get the correct ones, designed for your application, with caliper clearance and the proper backspacing. What you have now will give you squirrelly handling, bad tire wear, and it's dangerous.

I agree John. I spoke to cragar this afternoon and they told me that they have used this very application on mid year vettes before and it worked. So I called the tire dealer again and they wanted to know what the normal ride height was for this car. So if anyone has that information Id appreciate it. Also they said they can move me to a 60 series tire that would have a smaller diameter.

Ride height? GM restoration specs say 8 inches from the bottom of the rocker panels at both ends. My original suspension has my car sitting 8.5 at the rear and 8.25 at the front, but I am using grade8 bolts with nylok nuts to adjust the rear up - I like the tail high attitude.
