2002 Torch Red ZO6
I'm new to the Corvette world and love my car!! It's a 2002 torch red Z06 with only 24,000 km on it. Yes...I'm from Canada about 3 hours north of Toronto. I have learned so much from you guys and I really like this site! I do have a question to ask. I bought a new gear shifter knob but I can't figure out how to get the old one off. Has anyone done this before and if so please advise how you did it!! Also what is the best replacement tire to buy? Is there something better than the F1's? Thanks so much!!

Take off the plastic gear ind. cover. There is a metal wedge inside. It needs to come out, then you can unscrew the knob. The wedge can be in very tight. I gripped mine with vice grips and hit the vice grips upwards with a hammer. Good luck with yours.

tyber Z06, welcome to the CAC (I know you've been a member for a while but this is your first post). At this point, you're one of 3 Z06 owners who'll be at Cruisefest. Patrick and I are the other two :D

I came across another thread about the shifter knob, that might help out too.

As for the tires, that is always a subject for much discussion. Dig around a little and see what you can discover. Basically, I don't know that there is a definitive answer.

Here are a couple of threads.

This is a great article about tires by Hib Halverson. If you have time, it is an interesting read. http://corvetteactioncenter.com/kb/question.php?qstId=539

How many miles have you gotten out of your Goodyear supercars? Mine are at 16k and showing signs of needing to be replaced.

(edit- I just found a metric calculator and see that you have about 15k miles)
