Well guys ive been away for awhile and have found out the final production numbers of Z16's made.

Total is 2,025 Z16's made will be the final number im getting from sources and thats a little disapointing to me. Not just because of value later of my car, but they lied when they said only 1800 to be produced. Unless 300 of these still go to Europe as they said at GM earlier last year.

I think there were less Torch Red Z's made in 02, so i wonder why they poured it on at the end (besides money). but why not make the car rare or hard to get?? NOW i read that some internet dealers are selling these Z16's for 12 grand off??????????????? Why would they do that? I mean are they just running this special for June? or is this going to get worse as the year goes on??? im not sure why everyone is trying to dump all the stock (besides wanting to get more C6's this year to sell) but i would imagine these cars (any C5) will go up or stabilize after the C6 comes out because not everyone is going to want or be able to afford a new C6.

Just disapointed ONCE again in GM.. makes me want to just get my Viper and forget about GM. There pushing it with me!!:mad

Actually, the numbers I've consistently heard were 2000 to be produced. And that 2000 was in question due to production problems at the beginning with the carbon fiber hood.

Do you seriously think that a couple hundred extra are really going to make a difference in the value of your car? Did you buy it as an investment or to drive it?

Well cars aren't investments

I dont think cars are investments Rob..lol.. never bought a car for that, i buy cars like the Z16 to have and own something different. To hope that you wont see one on every corner (not that i see many Z06's out in the Dallas area) and i drive alot each day around here. But my purpose always since my first new car was to have something different/unique.

Well i have written reports saying 1800 to be made.. yes i think a couple hundred more built is a big deal when it comes to something that was SUPPOSE to be limited. I was using the wrong word when i said rare. But limited production has been GM's favorite line on the Z16 since Jan.2003

Cant say i drive my nice cars much, i have other vehicles for that daily grind on the roadways. It would kill me to drive the Z06 as a daily driver and i would sell it before i made it a daily driver.

Thanks for your comments.

Great detective work, Tonys Torch!!!!!

Tony, I understand why you're disappointed. And you're correct, there were 1746 Torch Red Z's produced in 2002. I shouldn't bring it up but there were less 2003 Z06's in Millennium Yellow, 1708. And as you know only 352 Speedway White Z's were made for 2001. But go ahead and ask yourself if you would trade your Z16 for a white 2001, assuming equal mileage and condition. If you say yes, then you are looking merely for rarity in any form of transportion. But if you would rather the Commemorative Edition, as I presume you would, then you are more about the specific car and how it appeals to your particular taste. A couple thousand of any car is scarce enough not to run into one on every street corner and I suspect the fact that it is a commemorative edition model will make it that much more of a draw some years down the road, should you ever decide to trade or sell it. I doubt that the relatively few extra cars made will have much of an impact between 1700 or 1800 and 2025. Now if 5000 of them were made, sure! If that happened and I were you, I'd trade that puppy in on a Yugo! ;LOL

You my Corvette buddy are SO right!

Wow Z_OH_6 YOU are so write on all your points, and i didn't know the exact count of the Torch Red Z's of 2002 but i thought if i remembered correctly it was under 2000. Didn 't know that about the MY color in 03, I will get over it..HAHA.. i do understand what car i have and how many wont make the years ahead..Hoping mine is one of the few to be around for many years to come. Now you actually dont know me..LOL>> BUT i would take a 2001 Speedway White Z06, but i dont think over my Z16. I have been on a search for one for awhile to add to my collection and i have found one this week in my home town. Whats a good price on a 2001 Speedway White Z?? it has around 17 thousand miles and its up for sale for $34,500.00, (is this a good price?) but you know im that type to like the rarity of a car. I just like DIFFERENT.. i LOVE white cars and have had a few in my time, One Corvette that was white. What color came in the interior of the Speedway White?

If you or anyone knows what a good price would be on the 2001 Speedway White Z06 let me know. I haven't seen it in person yet.

Thanks T. T.

Tony,
By the way, my name is Tony also. I think that price represents a seller who knows the rarity of the car and is wanting to capitalize on it. It's way too high for a 2001 Z06. But having said that, it's a matter of how bad someone wants that specific car in that rare color. The mileage is relatively low and if the car, otherwise, is in great condition, then it's price is dependant on what the market will bear. I'm sure someone thought that red '67 big block with only 12 miles on it was too steep a price until Roger Judski bought it for $640,000!! I, for one, say go for it! :_rock

I'm going to jump in here and support Rob.

I think everyone who buys a Z06, or any of the other vettes is to drive them.
Who buys any car for an investment?

ENJOY THE RIDE.
THE RIDE IS GOOD IN A Z06!!
-Bill;)

Corvettes as Investments

Those that purchase a 427/435 1967 roadster with Bloomington Gold certification. 11 original miles!

Price $150,000 or more-this would be an investment in my book!

It looks like some dealers are offering 12k off sticker now. I guess the late build out of the Z16's didn't help, because the bigger dealers (kerbeck, maxi, and rick daniel's dealer) all have a bunch of Z16 Z06's sitting on their lots.

I am actually considering moving up because the prices are so good;)

Yes sir i would

Yes sir if your looking for a Z06 i would buy one (the Z16) from them for the 12 grand off, you cant beat the price now. Back when i bought mine Jan.8 this year i had one of the very best if not the best deal around given to me. Guys on other forums were paying sticker and couldn't believe the price i got. And looky now how much more they have dropped their pricing.

Oh well im very happy with mine and its a great car. At least i didn't pay sticker because i know those guys who paid sticker are probally very mad at this date and time seeing these price drops.

I believe all the Z06's will go back up in pricing in the fall and it would be the best time to sell a used one. Because after the new 06 Z06 comes out.. Watch the prices drop then.

Good luck and let us know what number you get. T.T.

12 grand off, now that is a deal

or shall I say steal!

Speaking of steal, anyone interested in stealing a vette? I know where you can and the owner wouldn't even know it's missing. The guy can't even operate a fuel door. Look for a guy by the name of Tony! :L

You could be like the ROADFROG and be looking down a barrel. Roadfrog is begging me to come take him out and YOUR right on the top of the list like him.

I invite you MR. BV or MR. ROADFROG to walk past my car. I'll make you do a dance you'll never forget.;)

Tony Torch-Smartest Z16 guy in the world? Yeah right! LOL

Speaking of dancing, who wouldn't be dancing if they could get their hands on a Z16 for 12,000 off. That is unbelievable. There still appears that there are many left!!!!! Get them while they are still hot!

I still don't know how Tony's Torch didn't know how to operate the fuel door. Isn't this the same guy that locked his keys in his car and had to use a coat hanger to get his family out? :L

Keys out of a car???? wow the beaver is for sure losing it, if he EVER had it???
and thats a BIG question??????

When did i lock my keys in the car?

Good question!

If I had it again would I have bought the Z16 model? I didn't know too much about it then. All I wanted was a convertible and then I saw the Z06. I wanted black and bought it. Saw the Z16 but didn't pay too much attention to it.

Actually, I am glad I didn't purchase it as it would remind me of you each and every day. I would not want that! :L

I am happy with my choice!!!!!!
