I seen my first Z06 up close and personal this morning. My good friend and cruising buddy just got it home Saturday, zero miles. What a Corvette!! Black on black with red stitching on the seat covers.

My Corvettes will never keep up with this.

Don't worry about it! While the new Z06's are monsters in power and handling, they can't touch the C1's and C2's for pure class, styling, and timeless beauty :)

I saw my first C6 Z06 just last weekend, and it too was black/black. Looked like a Viper as it approached me, but I recognized that scoop...which i don't like....they could've done something better with that. Maybe something like the old Mopar scoops (challenger/cuda)....anyway, I'm not sure I liked it.

Did he have to pay $15-20,000 premium over sticker ? Jim

He was suppose to pay sticker, but when he went to pick it up the dealer charge him $7000.00 over sticker. He was a little upset about, but he had already sold his 2001 Z06 prior to placing the order. He showed me the order sheet and there was a little not about market price. I am not in to the new Corvettes, but this car could change my mind.

I agree. The early Vettes have class. But for pure thrill of driving, nothing tops the C4 as far as I'm concerned. When I fire my Vette up, it's like holding the reins on a wild animal that's not quite tame: it just wants to be unleashed! There's not as much polish and finesse as in a C5 or a C6, but that's not why I drive my Vette. For polish and finesse, I drive my wife's DTS.

He went to pick it up and they said 'by the way' and marked it up 7k. That is just not right.

Must be nice to say OK to a 7k premium for a car you were quoted list. Its sad the dealers are once again price gouging. Its the good ole law of supply and demand. To think for the premium of 7k he could have bought and older C4!!!! The car is worth every penny...It just sucks what is being done with the pricing:mad

:mad Burns my butt when I read about any dealer marking up a car over MSRP!
Don't understand why anyone would pay over MSRP. Just walk away and shop elsewhere. Send me a PM if your intereted in a new Corvette, any model and I'd be glad to help.

In 40 years of driving and buying cars, the '06 Z06 is the absolute most fantastic vehicle ever! Everything about it brings miles of smiles. The power scares the daylights out of you, handling is superb, comfort, fuel economy, quality, it has it all. It's provides so much enjoyment even while driving slow & easy.

I would have ripped the salesmens/salemanagers and owners throat out.

I don't care how great the car is.. I would never pay over MSRP.

Glad he's enjoying the new buy.

Hi there,
I would have been right there with you.
Thats just outright pathetic that a dealer sells that way.
What the hell happened to a persons word??????

I hope the guy that bought that car reported this to GM. I would have walked, but I definitely would have made sure the president of GM was aware of what happened. Everyone at Chevrolet/GM headquarters would know about it, along with the local newspaper. That salesman is a POS. It's guys like him that give the rest of 'em such a bad rep.

I would not pay more than MSRP for a vehicle either, but from the statement above it sounds like the buyer was aware of this possibility from the start. I don't think the dealer backed out of the deal and niether did the buyer. Both parties found the transaction acceptable.

Congratulations to your friend, Ray. Let's hear a report after you've taken a ride.

You are kidding I hope. Or you haven't owned or driven a C5 or C6.

PRICE GOUGING

61 Silver:

When I ordered mine last year the agreed upon price was MSRP + X.
The day after the car was built (It was built on 01/09/06.) Chevrolet advertised lowered the MSRP $910 from $65800 to to $64890. It was reflected on the window sticker. Anyway it'll keep me in gas for a few weeks.

Or C3's. But they are still one he11 of a car. You gotta love the black too.

To each his own I guess. Each generation is a great car in its own right. While the C1s and C2s are "classy" they cannot hold a candle to the C6Z in overall performance, handling, comfort, convenience while getting over 20+ mpg on the highway!!!

You can make that comment AFTER you drive a new Z06--until then you are just guessin' and wishin'.

I agree with you!
No one can judge a car with out driving it first.
Big John.
