Amazing come from behind victory at Cleveland!

It was a story book finish for Randy Ruhlman and Derhaag Motorsports as they went from the back of the field to take the victory. It was Ruhlman’s second of the year and second of his career in Trans-Am. After 3 events Ruhlman has won 2 and finished 3rd at Portland giving him command of the points.

I would like to take this time to make a correction in one of my previous blog’s. I would appear that Rocketsports Racing is not the only full time multi-car team. Derhaag Motorsports fields Randy Ruhlman in the #49 Corvette as well as rookie driver Hima Maher in the #78 Corvette.
As was predicted at the end of the race only 8 of the 14 cars were still listed as active. It seems to me that there is plenty of opportunity this year in Trans-Am for anyone who is looking to make a good showing. Heck just by showing up you stand a chance of a tope ten finish. Note that there wasn’t a single GT America driver entered in the field and also only 3 GT-1 cars and speaking of GT-1 cars I would like to offer my personal congratulations to Paul Fix II who managed a 4th place finish, well ahead of some of the Trans-Am regulars.
As it has been said before in order to finish first you must first finish and this is certainly the case in Trans-Am. It would appear that these cars can be a bit temperamental. I would suggest forgo total horsepower and work on a race package that has the staying power. What you give up in total speed you will gain in consistent finishes and maybe even win some races or who knows a championship? I think this series has a lot to offer, now if they could only get the car count up!
