Corvette under military orders
SATURDAY 18TH JUNE 2005
Beretta/Gavin/Magnussen, Corvette Racing, Corvette C6.R, Le Mans 24 Hours, 18/06/05
It may have been quite a while since the US and the British went to war, but this weekend there's a fair old battle going on with the battleground in northern France between the two nations.
American icon the Chevrolet Corvette is going up against the Great British Aston Martin marque in the GT1 category of the 73rd running of the Le Mans 24 Hours, and whilst Aston has the might of Prodrive behind it, (and, yes, alright it might have American owners in the form of Ford), Chevrolet has the might of the American military behind it in the form of General Colin Powell.
According to the team, Corvette Racing's marketing manager Gary Claudio received a fax from C6 Corvette owning, Colin Powell. His message: "Best wishes to our team in Le Mans. I'll be watching the win!"
No word currently from the British military.
