Ryan Dalziel was able to celebrate a second successive top ten finish in the ALMS after the Scot, and team-mate Alex Figge, secured fifth in GT1 and ninth overall in the Grand Prix of Atlanta.

Dalziel, who was the second quickest GT1 runner in the morning's practice session in the Pacific Coast Corvette C5-R, handed starting duties for the 2-hour 45-minute race to team-mate Alex Figge, who maintained his position during the opening hour of the race.

Figge pitted from fifth in class and eleventh overall, handing over driving duties to Dalziel for the remainder of the race and he eventually gained a position with 60 laps completed as Oliver Gavin, in the factory Corvette C6-R, spun out ahead of him at turn ten creating a full course caution complete with safety car.

Gavin soon retook the place and with two hours and 75 laps completed Dalziel remained in the top ten running order overall and a full course yellow soon afterwards allowed him to pit for fresh tyres to go to the finish, with a late retirement among the leaders allowing him to move up to ninth place overall as the Scot set some of the fastest GT1 laps of the race.

“We've still got a lot to learn with our car; primarily we need to get more performance from it in warm conditions such as today!” Dalziel said afterwards. “That said we showed some promise with my lap times towards the end of the race and in the morning practice sessions yesterday and today.

“There's work to be done before our next outing but I'm looking forward to getting to Mid-Ohio and seeing what we can do!”
