Folks,

Many of you followed my 1963 Z06 restoration - came to Bloomington hoping for GOLD but realistically knowing that all I would get was SILVER CERTIFICATION - well that is what happened - SILVER!

Until they checked the stamppad I only had NINE POINTS off! But, since I did not DECK the stamppad with my VIN, but left the VIN that was on the block, that drops you automatically to SILVER. So, came away with a BIG SMILE ON MY FACE and lots of people thaning me for being so honest and full of integrity for not restamping.

Thanks for sharing !!

Enjoyed meeting you Rick. And thanks for the tip on the white / saddle ZO-6.

Your car is a very great restoration of a very rare car. The Z0-6 experts were on the field Saturday enjoying the only ZO-6 converible every found to be an original PAPERED car. Your car should have been displayed at the same time, as everyone would have appreciated it.

I like what you have done. I have a good friend here in California that has done the same with a 67 marina blue 390 convert. In his case he found motor #8109 for car # 8565. He felt ( as you) there is more creditability with a complete original Corvette engine than a restamp.

Now just drive the beast and enjoy. Life is too short to just worry over "matching numbers"

Save the wave and see you soon,
Jim

Congratulations, Rick. Honesty is rare in the Corvette rebuild world (re the liars at a store in...... ) and I'm sure you will feel better having done it your way.
I look forward to seeing your car sometime soon, I hope.

Congratulations, Rick. Good seeing you in Bloomington. Car looks GREAT. Hope your trip to Minnesota, and the return trip was uneventful. :) Chuck

thnx for all the kind words! got the scoring sheets in the mail and will begin taking care of the items found lacking - then on to WINDSOR, ON CANADA and the [Inter]National Corvette Restorer's Society (NCRS) Show - leaving Baltimore on July 24 - hopefully, TOP FILIGHT!

Congrats on the Silver Rick. I wish I could have made Bloomington but the plant was down. That means 14-16 hour days til it's running again. I' glad that you didn't restamp your block. I appreciate an honest car even if the numbers don't match. Decking a block for the purpose of restamping is erasing history.

I assume you traveled on the Ohio toll road to the show. When you passed Ohio 49 at the Indiana line you were 14 miles north of me. Give me a call next time and we'll get together.

Tom

Tom,

avoided toll roads with the trailer - triple payment! actually took I70 to Indianapolis, then I65 North to US30, to IL59 and finally IL64 to St. Charles - had a blast - met some CAC, NCRS, and many other Vette folks - saw the "reported" Z06 Convertible
