7.8.05 -- The Infineon Technologies Grand Prix of Sonoma, presented by Ravenswood Winery, is returning to the Valley of the Moon the weekend of Friday through Sunday, July 15 to 17, when 23 cars in four classes will compete on the 12-turn, 2.53-mile road course.
It will be a timed race beginning on Sunday, July 17, at 11 a.m. and lasting for two hours and 45 minutes.
Four classes will be running at the same time, namely LMP1 (two cars), LMP2 (four cars), GT1 (six cars) and GT (nine cars). For the first time in 48 years Maserati will be present with their MC12, while Corvette unveils the new C6-R.
The ALMS features racing based on the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, held in France every year, with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Speed World Challenge supporting the ALMS race, which features two classes - GT and touring car. All cars are production-based, including Corvette, Audi and Mustang.
GRAND PRIX OF SONOMA SCHEDULE
Friday, July 15: ALMS testing, 12:15 to 2:15 p.m., and Speed World Challenge practice, 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.
Saturday, July 16: Speed World Challenge qualifying, 9 to 9:45 a.m.; ALMS practice, 10 to 11 a.m.; Speed World Challenge touring car race, 1:05 to 1:55 p.m.; and ALMS qualifying, 3:15 to 4 p.m.
Sunday, July 17: Infineon Technologies Grand Prix of Sonoma, 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.; and the Speed World Challenge GT race, 2:50 to 3:40 p.m.
