3/16/2005 - Pacific Coast Motorsports ("PCM"), the 2004 Toyota Atlantic champions, announced today that commencing with the 2005 race season the team will field a Corvette C5-R full-time in the GT1 category of the American Le Mans Series ("ALMS") with primary sponsorship from home improvement retailer Menards. The first outing for the PCM Menards Corvette will come at the historic and prestigious 12 Hours of Sebring on March 19, 2005.

During the off-season, PCM made the business decision to focus its efforts for 2005 on sportscar racing in the ALMS. The team was able to purchase the dominating Corvette C5-R from Pratt & Miller, General Motors' factory team. Since its entry in the ALMS, the C5-R has won multiple ALMS championships and 24 Hours of Le Mans races.

"Everyone in our organization is excited about our new Menards Corvette program," said PCM Team Director Tyler Tadevic. "With the well-developed and proven C5-R, our aggressive driver line-up and the support of Menards, we are fielding a formidable privateer effort against some big-time factory programs." PCM is the only privateer team that will be competing with the C5-R Corvette.

Piloting the PCM Menards Corvette are former Toyota Atlantic standouts Alex Figge and Ryan Dalziel. Figge, a 23 year-old American, has successfully competed and won races in the Toyota Atlantic Championship over the past three seasons. Dalziel, a 23 year-old that hails from Scotland, but now resides in the U.S., was the 2003 and 2004 runner-up in the Toyota Atlantic series. For the long distance endurance events, Figge and Dalziel will be joined by two-time Toyota Atlantic champion, Indy Lights champion and 24 Hours of Daytona winner Dave Empringham.

"The Toyota Atlantic Championship was a great place for PCM to compete over the past couple of seasons. The fact that our three drivers have extensive experience and achieved success in the Toyota Atlantic series speaks to the fact that the series does a great job preparing drivers to progress their careers to higher levels of motorsports competition," said Tadevic. "We're proud to be a championship-winning team in the competitive Toyota Atlantic Championship and our team and our drivers hope to represent the series well in the ALMS."

The primary sponsorship from Menards, which was secured by PCM's marketing and legal representative Sports Management Network, Inc. ("SMN"), marks the company's first full-time support of a sportscar program. The U.S.'s third largest home improvement retailer with over 200 stores, Menards also has motorsports programs in NASCAR, the Indy Racing League, NHRA, and ASA. "Our association with Menards not only adds tremendous support and credibility to our program, but it also affords us the opportunity to develop associate-level sponsorships with existing and potential Menards vendors," said Tadevic. "Menards obviously has an extensive history in racing and a current sponsorship portfolio across multiple series that touches different audiences. We're thrilled to represent the company in ALMS sportscar racing."

In addition to its association with Menards, PCM will serve as Yokohama Tire Corporation's premier GT1 development and promotional team within their North American motorsports efforts. Along with Empringham's participation in the long distance endurance races, he, with Figge and Dalziel, will play a key role in Yokohama's tire development and testing. "We developed a great relationship with Art Michalik, Robert Dole, Cheech Yamauchi and the guys at Track Side Performance while we were competing in the Toyota Atlantic Championship with Yokohama tires," said Tadevic. "It is exciting to be able to grow this relationship to the next level for our ALMS program and truly an honor that Yokohama selected our team for their development and promotional work. I believe the fact that a company of the caliber of Yokohama is working with PCM in such an important capacity speaks volumes about their confidence in us to deliver positive results and to the overall quality of our organization." The PCM Menards Corvette, as well as the team's driver, will be featured in Yokohama's national print advertising campaign and its promotional and marketing materials. "The entire PCM team, along with our marketing and legal team at SMN, has worked extremely hard over the off-season to put this all-around solid program in place. We very much look forward to our first season in the ALMS."
