Leighton Reese and his Banner Engineering Corvette C-6 ready roll over the hills and dales of Road Atlanta for Round 3 of the SPEED World Challenge GT Series

Braselton, Georgia: (April 15, 2005) Leighton Reese of Minnetonka Minnesota is eager for the race weekend to begin here at the Road Atlanta race track as he will contest Round 3 of the SPEED World Challenge GT Series on Sunday April 17th in his black and yellow Banner Engineering Chevrolet Corvette C6.

Reese and his Banner Engineering Racing team had a very promising test session at Road Atlanta on Thursday as he was one of the GT faster entries during Thursday testing. Reese will be looking to improve on his 7th place finish here last year and Leighton knows he will have to be fast as the field is filled with hot cars and top competitors.

The 30 plus car field will include 2004 defending series champion Tommy Archer and his rocket fast 3R racing Dodge Viper, three factory Cadillac CTS-Vs for Indy Car veteran Max Papis, Andy Pilgrim and Max Angelelli, who won the 2004 edition of this race, Trans-Am and World Challenge veteran driver Lou Gigliotti and his Corvette and a fleet of potent Porsche 911s including Porsche Cup champion Wolf Henzler and ALMS hot shoe Robin Liddell.

"We were really fast today," Leighton said after Thursday's test sessions.

"The Banner Engineering Chevy Corvette is awesome," Reese continued. "The chassis is working really well, the car is turning in great and the motor has plenty of power!"

"We ran so well that we didn't even bother with the last session," Reese concluded.

As tough as the competition will be on Sunday Joe Kantarik, crew chief for the Banner Corvette, felt that they could do well here saying, "We had a podium car at St. Pete but that's the way racing goes. I think we can be a top 5 or podium car here too!"

The race Round 3 of the SPEED World Challenge GT Series, scheduled for 29 2.54 mile laps around the 12-turn Road Atlanta track, will start at 8:55 AM Eastern Time and will be broadcast on tape delay on Sunday April 17th at 1 PM Eastern Time on the SPEED Network.
