LG Motorsports and Lou Gigliotti take to the streets!!!
Lou Gigliotti, 3 time World Challenge champion heads to the street fights in St Petersburg Florida this weekend. Lou just came from a disappointing race in Sebring, FL where he had a mechanical problem that put him out of the race. Even with the mechanical problems, Lou was running a respectable 5th place when he retired. "The new Corvette C6 is a very good car. It should be, since it is the evolution of our extremely fast Corvette C5. The rules are being shaped as we speak so the Corvette can have an even chance at winning. The Corvette C6 is as good as any car out there so I expect it to be on the winner's stand very soon."
The LG Motorsports team just completed two days of testing with the new cylinder heads and we were very pleased with the performance of the new C6. It is not up to the speed of our C5 yet but that is what the new rules intended to happen.
Temporary tracks, Street courses and Lou Gigliotti get along very well. Aside from a win at Long Beach in the TA series, he won Three Rivers, Des Moines, Dallas (3 times), Reno and Cleveland. Plus in his last three trips to St Pete on one layout or another he was on the podium 3 times there. Lou has the most wins on street courses of all World Challenge drivers.
It takes a different kind of skill to race successfully on a street course and Lou Gigliotti has shown time and time again that he can win on tough street courses.
"Horsepower will not make the difference at St Pete. Handling and driver skill combined with "Big Nerves" will take the win. I am looking forward to this race with all of the experience winning on this kind of track we are very happy that SCCA has added 2 street courses."
Lou has 19 total wins in the World Challenge series in 90 starts, which is almost a 21% win record in the series. Lou also has 41 top 3 finishes, 46 top 5's 56 top 10s and was the fastest qualifier 21 times on the pole which is just about 1 pole in every 4 races which tops PD Cunningham's pole percentage. Lou only has 9 fastest race laps which shows that Lou can win races on desire alone! Even without the fastest race car, Lou can win races.
