I am pulling my hair out over this blower motor. I have an 86 with automatic climate control. When I hit auto, the air conditioning compressor comes on, but no fan/blower. I hit the up speed and no response. I put power to the blower motor and it will run. I checked the fuses in the fuse panel next to the passenger door. I checked the 5 amp fuse next to the blower. I was told to check continuity on the resistor in the air box, but I don't know how to use a multi meter. Is there a relay somewhere? I can't seem to find one. The resistor is over $200, so I don't want to guess. The auto parts store says there is an $8 dollar relay somewhere. I would swap it out if I could find it.
I need to sell her, and I am taking it to a swap meet/ car corral this Friday. Can anyone please help?
Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately it probably IS the Blower-Control-Module aka power module and they CAN be found for lots less. I bought one 4 mts ago for $159 Carquest. o'riellys had one for less (needed to be ordered-2days) and the highest was the local rapist parts counter ($250+) at Corvettes of H***ton. (dont want to get sued for slandering a greedy business)
That mystery relay is probably the small one under the dash around the driver floor near the a/c programmer. I think all it does is interior power mngt. The BCM is where the big amps come from for blower control. Make certain there is no power at the blower motor plug with a test lite and wiggle the wire harness a little. You should be able to physically follow the wire from the blower motor a few inches to the BCM. That is your proof. Use a test lite on the same wire to see if there is voltage coming from the BCM.
Sometimes the blower motor plug-socket will go bad (mine is right now) and it makes a p-poor connection to the plug. 12v from the battery is a jolt that will make the connection but the lower amps and lower voltage of variable speed may not. Try to wiggle the plug with it ON. if there is no result,. start saving for the BCM.
