Hey I just stripped my hood and it is as smooth as silk. It even has a little shine to the glass. This question may show my inexperience, but do I really need to use a surfacer? I was thinking just an epoxy primer, sealer, and then BC/CC. I am not used to this. Metal cars never look this nice naked.

I would suggest it .Its good insurance that its straight.
Its time consuming but heres the process I use on a regular basis.Apply an epoxy primer ,wait an hour and apply a urethane surfacer.Guide coat the surfacer(overspray black primer),then block sand until the guide coat is gone and areas of the epoxy primer start showing through. Its a full proof process.Sometimes if its a car with alot of repairs I will use the same method twice but on the first time I will use an epoxy primer and a polyester surfacer and dry block it then re prime with epoxy and urethane.
