Does Chevrolet still place the Vin# on the blocks of their cars? I will be looking at 03' and 04' Z06 cars and this is a big deal on the older cars. Any tips on Z06 cars in general? Thanks in advance.

Mike,
I'm pretty sure it's a federal law that the VIN must also be stamped on the engine block. (Did you mean 'engine block' when you said 'block?)

As for the Z06, what information would you like to know? There wasn't a whole lot of change between the '03 and '04 model years. (FYI, since you're specifically inquiring about an '03 and an '04 Z06, I'm going to move this to the Z06 General Discussion forum.)

Thanks

Thanks Patrick. Since you asked.......Any problems to look for in the Z06? I come from Boss 302's so this is a new venture for me and my 71' LT1. I am not bowled over by the new Corvette so my thought is a fixed head car. Thanks, Mike.

Mike,
I've had my '03 Z06 for a little over a year now, and I've had no problems with it. I've found its very responsive, very nimble handles curves like a dream. And I've barely made any mods (K&N Air Filter, Borla Exhaust.)

I understand that some of the earlier years (2001 in particular) may have had an oil consumption issue. As I said, I haven't observed that with my '03.

I agree with you on the look of the fixed roof coupe version. Ultimately, that notch-back window became the profile that found it's way to my heart.

Alright, that's an admittedly bias summary. Some of out other members may be able to give you a perspective of comparison, as I've never had the pleasure of experiencing a Boss 302.
