Due to other obligations I was unable to make it but it looks like a great turnout. I hope to make it next year.

I'm sure we'll see a lot of the same cars this coming Saturday in Manassas!

Sorry I couldn't make it Colin. It was my daughter's 36th birthday, and we took her, her husband, and the 2 grandkids out to brunch.

Hard to believe that she's 36, since I'm still trying to "pass" for 40. :) Chuck

Neat photos of some great cars, Collin. Thanks.

Esepcially #35 which reminds all you guys with chrome air cleaners about covering them up in direct sunlight to preserve your hood paint. ;)

My wife and I made it down from Maryland. The back end of the 65 made it in one of the pics. We had a good time in spite of the heat. Nice people, nice cars, great prizes. Very nicely done. Thanks. Hope to make it again next year.

Congrats on a great turnout.

Just to let you know, the ODCC has every intention of doing it again next year. We want to improve on a few things, and hope to make the show more enjoyable. Portion of the show will still go to the Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter, our pet charity.

We intend to hold it again at Sterling Chevrolet....lot was perfect for the show.

So I will keep all informed on the 2007 Show....stay tuned...

I posted earlier about the show. Nice job. I would like to make a couple suggestions if I could.
1) Have some easy quick type food available, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and such. The event went from 10-2:30 right through lunch.
2) Although the Chevy dealer parking lot worked well, a park type location is nicer IMHO. Makes for a good setting for the family to come along and enjoy the day. A park is generally cooler and the car photos look better with a less industrial back ground.
Don't get me wrong, I had a good time and will come again next year. Just wanted to give some honest participant input.

Tom,

Thank you for your suggestions. Regarding the food, the club looked into this in great depth. Problem was two fold. First was the food handling permits from the county, and the second, we are a very small club, who in the club was going to spend all day cooking burgers and dogs when it was 95 degrees outside? This was our first show and it we as a club are too small to "hire" a food concession to come out, and there are several food places within walking distance from the show lot. Maybe as we grow the show and the club in the future we can get a person to come out and sell, but our focus for our first show was organization and developing the type of show we wanted to present.

To answer question 2, I agree with you, it would be really nice to have a park or some greenery etc., however, it in July, try to get the county to provide you a park for a car show...forget about it. We plan to hold the show again at Sterling next year and if the show grows (as with the club) we hope to have a place like you described in two years. Planning a show is not as easy as it seems, you go to be real careful as if you hold it on public land, you got to spend about six months doing paperwork with the county, and even going to certain coursed, ie traffic control etc.

My friend, your suggests have already been discussed before the show within our club and we contiue to try to make our show one that people want to come to and participate in the future. I think we are off to a good start and our club will work hard to make next years better.. Thanks for the suggestions.

Bummer. I never thought about permits.
Oh well. As I said we had a great time and we will be back next year!

Hi! Collin

It sure sounds like everyone had a good time, sorry I missed it. Maybe you could schedule the date closer to Corvette at Carlisle weekend so that many of us that drive a distance could make it a mini vacation.

Just a thought!

Collin, I also had a great time and will return next year. The main suggestion I do have is that your own club members should not win trophies. I know the cars that won were fine cars, but the trophies should be for non-club members. The pride of putting on the show and showing your club cars is great, but members should not be rewarded with your own trophies. This is my opinion and the opinion of a number of other car owners at the show. Thanks again for a great time and I am really looking forward to next year.

I totally agree with you. Personally I would not accept a trophy, as I beleive you are the host/hostess of the show. I told and wrote on my windshield DO NOT VOTE FOR THIS CAR, DISPLAY ONLY, on both of my Corvettes. I will bring this up again to the club, and again I agree with you. It seems to me in this world we live in, good manners must be observed. Thank you for this suggestion and I will bring it to the attention of the club members.

Collin,

one way to handle cars within the club is to have a trophy or two that are for club members only - we do this within my NCCC club at shows

I LIKE THAT IDEA...

Hey Rick...finally got that Holy Grail...an original Shift Knob....the last piece of the puzzle before BOSTON...YEAH...

yeah, I know - thought about bidding on it - but knew you needed it! had it on my WATCH LIST!

Thanks for the pics. Your show looked great! I felt like I was there!

I especially liked the Midyears inside. Some fine looking rides!

Congratulations on your turn out!

I have been organizing Cruise Nites at restaurants/hot dog & beef stands in the Chicagoland area for several years. I know EXACTLY how much work is involved in this type of venue.

Give yourself and your helpers a BIG pat on the back! You all certainly deserve it! :upthumbs

SAVE THE WAVE! :w
