Odometer ?

Have question anyone ever heard someone rolling back odometer after total ground up restoration,,i was wondering since mine is 70% complete and was wondering if it was legal,,,?
anyone have any info.

I think a lot of people do it. It's not illegal unless you represent it as actual mileage.. Dave..
 
Actually, I suspect it IS illegal in many, if not all states, to SELL a car with an odometer known to be rolled back. I'm sure it's illegal (federal law, I think) for a licensed dealer to do so. But, as was stated, it is frequently done during restorations after an engine rebuild, and hard to enforce on cars this old, unless they frequently change hands or need regular inspections (since the DMV becomes involved only during ownership changes or smog checks).
