I purchased a Dual Master Cyl Conversion kit from the nice folks at " Zip" bit ti ..E Do Da..;) about 6 months ago. I thought I would up the appearence and go for a Chrome Top Cover. So Last week I ordered a chrome top with Chrome bails that do the hold down thing.

They sent me a Top cover marked for 67 82 Corvettes. Eeeeeeehhhhhh..!!!!

The cover is slightly higher and the snap on bails are to long and will not come close to the top to hold it on. The top does fit my Master Cyl but that's it . The old bails are to short to use with the new unit and the new bails are to long for the old unit. The original top that came with the MC is lower in height.

The Number on the side of my Master Cyl Is #29969. Whats the story here. I thought the dual MC was the same from 66-82.

What's the correct route here...

Thanks John.. Or anyone else that wants a shot....

I don't recognize that 29969 number on the master cylinder - it's not a GM casting number; maybe a Bendix or other aftermarket item? That's probably why the GM cover and bails don't work together with it. The GM dual master cylinder used from '67 to the early 70's was casting #5455509, with bleeders on it; later the bleeders were removed.

An even more pressing question here. I'm cleaning my garage up after re-wiring the dash and installing an electric radiator fan. Little bits of wire and discarded connectors ALL over the place. So, I'm sweeping the floor and thinking about the pictures I saw of JohnZ's garage. Never a chance that my place will look like his.

Then I have the answer why his place is so neat and mine is a mess. I am now one hundred percent certain that he DOES not park his daily drivers in that garage. He MUST have another garage for that iron! I'm forever cleaning up the road crap that tracks in with our cars.

OK, JohnZ, let's see a picture of the garage with the daily drivers ;squint:

Oh God, this is gonna REALLY hurt :hb

I hate to break the news but I seem to recall one pic of John's garage he posted that you could see a minivan in there which I imagine is his or his wifes daily driver. Shockingly, I even saw a single stray LEAF on the floor! :eek
;LOL

he is just neater than the rest of us!

OK, you asked for it :) - yup, the daily drivers live there too; when the summer rain and winter snow/salt/ice/crud droppings build up on the floor, I just hose it out the door and it's nice and clean again. Occasionally I miss a leaf or two :D .

Thanks for the reply John.. There is no other number on the unit. It does say below the # " Made In The USA" so maybe it is a Bendix unit. I''ll put a call into Zip and find out what the deal is..

Thanks...:beer

No not yet.. The 86 Vette is sold... By By... waiting till around March as the new model year for the H3 (2007) showcase and become available in July (2007). I want to see what the diff between years will be and look for any improvements. 2006 was the first year for the H3.
The price on the 2006 will probably be cut so that would be the better value. The H3 is only sold at sticker price...since they are flying of the dealers lots.

The General was looking to sell 5000 a month... 12,000 a month is the latest sales figure. So they are doing very well...hence the MSRP price only.

OK, hope you got my VM....I'll resist the urge to highjack this again but I'll start a GM rant in the off-road lounge when I get a chance. Not sure about the viability of the Hummer brand.
