Oil pressure sending unit

I purchased a new oil pressure sending unit for my 74 and the the unit is larger than the old one that is on the car. Is this correct, are the new ones larger than the old? This is the unit that screws into the block next to the oil filter. The guys at NAPA tell me this is the right one, but I'm not sure. Thanks for your help.

There are at least two different swtches. One has a large can shape after the pipe nipple and the other just has a small black top with electrical spade on it. If you go to the online Corvette vendor catalogs they have pictures.

But it sounds like you have the wrong one. If you, your gauge will not read correctly.
