I am working on a leaking rear main. This is from a 74, 454 engine. I have the oil pump out and was going to replace the nylon bushing on the shaft. I do not have one to replace. I am attaching picture of the pump just after removal. What do I have here? Do I need the nylon bushing? or is this one that does not need one? I looked up the hole in the engine and did not see anything other than the slotted end of the distributer shaft.

I got a sleeve for mine at AutoZone...50 cents

After looking at the oil pump, shaft & parts at the loacl NAPA store, I figued it out. This must not be an orginal oil pump. Somewhere in the cars history it has been replaced with an oil pump that has the all metal shaft. Which is all goodness.
