I drove the 03 AE vert today to work. It was 29 with a light snow falling when I left. The snow stopped falling but it got progressively colder all day while the vert sit in the parking lot. When I started it to go home, the water temp showed 27 degrees F and the Oil Temp showed "LOW". I let it warm up waiting for the oil temp to start showing something. It never did!

Once the water temp got to 95, I decided to head home. After the 15 minute drive home, the water temp was 190 and the oil temp was still showing "LOW"!!!!! Really annoying.

I let the car sit in the garage for about 10 minutes then went back out and turned on the key. The oil temp was reading 158 degrees. Now I'm really annoyed.

Anybody have any idea what wire or sensor to check to try an prevent this from happening again???

I had the same problem on Monday with my new '04 Z06. It was 17 degrees when I left and the oil temp said low. I have a 46 mile drive to work and it said low the whole time, even after the water temp was normal. Worked fine on the way home and on Monday also. When I came to work last Friday the outside temp was in the teans also and the oil temp worked fine (normally that is what I have displayed on the readout until the engine is completely warmed up). I don't know why it read low on Monday.

That is so weird!

I drove my old 92 today and let it cold soak in 20 degrees all day and it worked fine. The coolant had to reach 90 degrees before the oil temp started going up from 33 but it worked.

Now if I can figure out why the C5 did it!!!

My oil temp did the same thing one morning last week. But the rest of the time it has worked just fine, even on the one morning where it was -12F here!

Just wanted you guys to know, Ive had the exact situation happen to me, strange huh, but mine corrected itself after i tuned the engine off and restarted it after it was fairly warm.
