started the vette yesterday,01 6spd coupe, temp outside was @35ish.let it run a while.digital oil temp indicator remained at "oil temp low"reading, even though needle was up where it should be.is this a sensor problem?relay?gmpp runs out next month, and if it ever stops snowing here in new york, and temps get up there,i'd like to go to the dealer and check this out!

Probably not most likely the oil isn't warm, usually takes me 10 miles on the road to hit any where normal (in the winter)

Was that the coolant bar that had moved up? Like he said oil takes a lot longer to warm up especially if it is cold out, and if you add things like an oil cooler and a lower thermostat that will contribute also.

From my experience, synthetic warms up slower, which your C5 would have from the factory.

Edmond nails it again!

The salesman (Z06 owner) made sure I knew when I took delivery that NOT using Mobil One or other synthetic voids the warranty.

thanks for the info.actually both needles were up on the guages, just the digital reading was saying low.it did this a month or so ago when it was in the 40's and i took it out for a ride.if i remember correctly, the digital reading did read correctly after a while.
