I posted sometime ago that this was my first corvette ownership, and project. many early GMs, 442 and camaro, but no vettes. I have heard for so many years that they certainly have their own individual quirks, that's why you guys are great! you've been there.

After removing the entire interrior, I have experienced (this problem existed before any removal) that the left/driver headlight opens and closes immediately, while the right/pass is a few seconds behind in opening, and again in closing. I assume this is a vac. or accumulator problem, where to I go from here. Location etc. How do I trouble-shoot and pinpoint the problem? It is functional, but not operating correctly. Thanks for any insight and tips Jon

The drivers side actuater gets the air first and from there it goes to passenger side. I haven't tried it but think the only solution to this is installing a T connector before it hits the actuator, but then again you will still have a longer tube going to passenger side. Have only seen one vette where they both came up at same time and down at same time and he had new check valve, and new actuators all new hoses and an engine that was putting out ALOT of air.

A common problem with vacuum operated lights on the Sharks is the rubber seals on the vacuum canisters, over time they dry rot and don't seal. Take a look at them, most likely this will be the problem, each canister has an inner and outer seal, cost is about $10 each. They are easy to replace but the canisters are somewhat of a pain to get out, just takes a little patience. Be very careful with the metal retaining clips, use a jewelers screw driver to pry the tabs up...not sure if anyone is making the retainers yet.

The seals were what caused my lazy lights, the crooks at the local GM dealer wanted to sell me new canisters at $120 EACH!

There has been some really good threads here at CAC on this subject and we have a couple pretty good ones at the L81VetteRegistry Item III ;)
