goodyear f1 gs-d3 is 275-40-17 correct........ also what if anything,would i have
to do to get my spedo accurate with this change???????

thanks
chris

I think you have 16" wheels now, so you will see a 2-4 mph difference at 60mph. I don't know if you need a different speedo gear or a chip change for 1985 models. Someone here will know that for sure.

You do know you can buy those ZR1 repro wheels for much less on Ebay right?

rims

not to familar with many sellers on ebay i do know i can trust corvette america
i have bought may items from them since i got the car in november. they are
only an hour and a half for me so i dont have the shipping charges when i go
pick em up. i do have 16's on the car now. thanks for the help newb

chris

Have to agree with Newb, you can get those rims much cheaper on ebay with shipping included. I've seen some people get them for as cheap as 475 with shipping. On ebay search afs wheels 84-7 and you may catch them for sale on a no reserve auction. A couple of friends of mine have bought some rims off of AFS and they have no complaints. Just my 2cents.

If you do a search here on CAC, you'll find others who have purchased wheels from these Ebay vendors. Also, you can check out their feedback on Ebay itself.

eBay is a good source for new wheels. Do a search on the eBay main page for "AFS Wheels". AFS is a good brand for ZR-1 style wheels and they will even have wheel/tire combos available. Check out their wheels at www.afswheels.com Select the "Wheels" tab then the ZR-1 style, the Corvette, then 84-87 Corvette. They have wheels in chrome, silver, black, and polished and even a 11x17 wheel for the rear that will allow the use of a 315/35-17 tire.

The 84-87 cars use a different offset than the 88-later cars. You need a 38mm offset for the wheel to be placed correctly!! 88 and later wheels have a 56mm offset and those wheels would be set further inside the wheel well by at least 3/4" and look a bit strange.

You should not see any big difference in the speedo as the 275/40-17 tire and the 255/50-16 tire have very close to the same diameter. When I changed to 17's on my 87, I saw a .3 mile difference in the odometer in a 5-mile speedo check section.

eye they seem to be rated really well. anyone have any likes or dislikes
about these tires

firestone sz50s. excellent dry AND wet traction. i bought them because so many other members recomended them. i was not disapointed.

Got these on eBay from AFS for less than 500 including shipping. Triple Chrome.
Ya gotta bid and hope, tho. Unless you buy them outright, of course. ;)
