Hey All,
Just curious, in the 1964 judging manual (Mechanical Section), it states:
"The cylinder case, cylinder heads, cast iron intake manifold, water pump, steel valve covers, engine balancer and exhaust manifolds including bolts, washers, and french locks are installed on the engine before painting; therefore, they are of consistent color and gloss."
So... What the deal with painting the exhaust manifolds? I thought everyone used "cast blast". Are the saying my exhaust manifolds should be painted Chevy orange? Can someone send me a picture of their orange manifolds ?
Thank Again for the help...
Craig

I think what the Judging manual is refering to is the over spray from painting all as an assy vs seperately. I'm sorry though I could not bring myself to overspray my manifolds unless I was absolutely planning on having the car judged. It really depends on you intent... Dave..

Correct - in judging, they'll expect to see at least some orange overspray on the exhaust manifolds, as they were in place on '64 engines when the engine was painted. If NCRS judging isn't in your plan, don't bother.
