Orbital Polishers

Rare81 said:
Basic question..

My wife asked what I wanted for Christmas this year :D I said an orbital buffer. After a few weird looks I showed her this thread. Well today she shows me the Sunday paper with a sales flyer from.... Sears, a 10" buffer/polisher, 9 bonnets, 2400 rpm with case for $39.99 hmmm I says... I've never owned a buffer/polisher before so I don't know if it is good or not :confused

I figure I would ask everyone here for opinions..
Any thoughts on the Sears Buffer/Polisher??

I also still have my Sears 9" orbital.
Have had it since the early 90's at least.
Still runs great, just had to fix the power cord once.

Personaly I think they are great to wax a car.
Especially since they are 1/3 the cost of the PC.
I don't think they have the umph to do any kind of "polishing".

Should be a great machine.

Pilot"s right about the 9 inch. I've got one too, and it is great for waxing. Not really a buffer/polisher. By the way I was right , my wife had my porter cable wraped up for Christmas . I had to think fast, so I told her I had planned to buff out my Son's s-10 for a Christmas present. Ha, got it out of the box already.;) :dance

Try This

You might want to put down the orbital polisher and pick up some different waxes. I am assuming you are using it to apply Mother's or Meguiar's. There are several higher end waxes available that are much easier to apply and remove by hand. The two mentioned companies use chalk as a drying agent while P21S, Lusso, Zymol, Zaino and Pinnacle.

P21S, Lusso, Zymol and Pinnacle are similar systems to what you are used to. Zaino is somewhat different than what you are used to but if your arm is wearing out, like mine from 2 major rotator cuff injuries, you can have excellent results with less wear on your arms.

If you are stuck on the buffing because you like to use power tools on your car then stick with what you have. :D

Rare only see's Klasse wax and polish products ;) and they do work fantastic by hand application.. I was hoping the buffer/polisher would bring some fun back to it. The older I get the more it's like WORK.. :D
