Original appearance of Grills on a 73

Those two grills beneath my headlamps that contain the front turn signals .... can anyone tell me what they looked like when new? My impression is that they were black with chrome edging at the front. Am I right on this?

That is correct. For '74 they went to all black grills.

If your car was very very late production (last few weeks of July '73, it may or may not have come with all black grills like the '74s. Several examples have been documented in NCRS judging.

Otherwise the leading edges should be chrome like photv and Tom mentioned.
