Our Club has many events during the summer. Today was a 40-mile jaunt to a classic car show in a quaint heritage village on the Rideau canal/lock system in Ontario, Canada. There were many events including visits to museums, shopping sprees, horse and buggy rides, and a period display of military wares from the war of 1812. As well, the locks were operating full tilt and it is fascinating to see 18th century technology still in use today. The weather was sunny with the odd cloud and about 88F (30-32C).
The Club representation attracted about 25 cars, from a 1960 through to 2005. (My 1967 is in there to justify this thread....) The convoy uses a buddy system: never lose sight of the car behind you. It can be ackward at times but it does work. The convoy also is controlled by several radios in case of breakdown or accident. We have a flatbed-trailered GMC Suburban in the event of a worst-case scenario. Speeding is not permitted (well...a bit over the limit).
The cars gather at a local service station early in the morning for coffee, chit-chat, driving instructions, directions, etc.
We had a couple of new kids on the block today. Note the 1960 in front of this one.
Pretty colour on these new cars.
Here is the Club line-up at the destination.
Here is 1967 and 2005 side-by-side. I was lost reading the instructions for the GPS positioning system and ambient temperature sensors, etc. On the latter I just stick my hand out the window. Yep, it's hot.
Fun day! But as 67Heaven knows these coupes sure can get hot. The ride home was a sauna bath. But the Canuck beer in the 'fridge was cold. So all's well that ends well.
