overdrive lites on but no action happening

While driving the overdrive light will come on but does not engage, and sometimes the light will flicker also but no engagement. could it be the od sensor on the tranny or the relay on the fire wall ?? any clues thanx 1985 with 86 4+3

same thing happend to my 88" it was the VSS [ vehicle speed sensor] took the mechanic 30 minutes to change. good luck.

ok now how do i find out the gear ratio.. it seems there are 3 types a 259 -- 273 -- 307 I have an 86 tranny any idea how to find out which one I have ??

run your vin number thru the vin decoder on this site. i believe it tells u what rear end u have, i betting its a 3:07.

but my car is an 85 with an 86 tranny so I don't think the decoder wherever that is would help..

post your vin # and u wull run it for u. just because your tranny was change doesnt mean your rear end was...
