That was very easy. The one I took out was an AC Delco and I suspect it was the factory original:( . So I put in a new Bosch sensor. I now feel that the milage is worse than before. The MPG readout in the digital dash used to read 13 mpg. Now it is 10 mpg. Anything else needs adjusting after the O2 sensor change? My wallet is running thin, very thin.;shrug

Alfonso,

Did you disconnect the negative battery cable before you worked on the car? You're supposed to disconnect the negative cable before you work on the car. After you're done and have reconnected the cable, the computer will have been reset. It will take some time after driving for the average to "get back to normal."

How does it feel? Your throttle response should be smoother and it should be smoother when you're climbing the RPM's.

I agree the ECM needs time to figure out whats going on and it will adjust in time.

Also, did you torque the replacement sensor in correctly? I belive the correct torque is 15 lbs. Check your Chevy service manual.

The orange coating that comes on the threads of the new sensor is all you need. DO NOT add any thread compound or plumber's tape as it can affect the unit's sensitivity.

Finally, I hate to say it, but I've heard of calibration variances affecting some (particularly Wells and Bosch) aftermarket sensors compatibility with your ECM. I had a buddy that purchased two sets of Bosch sensors (Code 43) before he gave up and ponied up the extra bucks for AC/Delco.

Guess what? No more code 43.

Right on!!! Now the MPG is up and varies when in stop an go traffic. When I hit the highway MPG go up (which did not happen with the old sensor).
