I recently installed a set of Bosch Platinum 4 plugs in my 88 Coupe and thought it would be a good idea to replace the O2 sensor as well. The old one was giving an occasional fault.
In removing the old O2 sensor there was some thread damage to mounting flange on the exhaust.
I have the new sensor but would like to re-tap the mounting flange nut before I install the new one. The problem is I have had a hard time figuring out what size tap I need to use.
The sensor shaft appears to be an 11/16 with 16 Threads per inch but this does not seem to be a common tap size.
Does anyone know if this paricular sensor is metric...perhaps a 16 Millimeter? or what size tap to use?
Believe me when this one goes in there will be liberal amounts of anti-seize applied.

Lowe's has a huge selection of nuts in every size or in my area there is a specialty store that has every nut ever manufactured. Go to one and find the nut that fits your new sensor and voalllaa...you have your exact tap size you need....remember tho..metal filings will fall into the hole your tapping..where they'll end up...i have know idea...;shrug

you may want to try pipe tap sizes also you may want to call street & performance they were quite helpfull when I buit my TPI
I will try to find there web page. As far as chips use a shp vac when tapping to keep them to a minimum or use a paste type tapping compound.
