My vette is popping a check engine light and the code is P0410. Based on other posts in here, I've learned that code says "AIR System". I was wondering if anyone here could let me know more about this. Is this a problem for a real mechanic? I was told by someone else that I just needed to reseat the fuel cap and reset the code. I did that and the code popped again within a couple of miles.

I'm new to this board and still learning y'alls formats. I did searches in the knowledge base but only found the meaning of the code. Don't know if there's somewhere else that I'm supposed to look for other answers. Please forgive if I'm in theworng area.

Thanks,
JJ

I did a google search and found an article back on this site somewhere. Looks like an air pump or solenoid problem. As I am on the road right now, and not that good of a mechanic, sounds like I'm making a trip to the dealer or some qualified mechanic.

P0410, as you know, is a fault with the AIR (air injection reactor) system.

Whomever told you to reseat the gas cap, is just guessing. It is true that a different code sets if the fuel cap is loose or missing, but it's not 0410. Generally, this code indicates a failure of the AIR system to work when the ECM expects it to do so.

If you're a DIY, the solution to the code is in the factory service manual, book 2. A scan tester is also necessary.

If you're not experienced with engine controls diagnostics and service, I'd take the car to a service facility experienced with GM engine controls service.
