Ok, after all my trans problems....rebuilt trans, motor etc etc........help me out here. It sounds like the trans was rebuilt incorrectly...Goes into 2,3,4 gear o problems...smooth quiet and goes good, now going into 1st, it grinds a little and as soon as it goes in and I let off the clutch a little it grinds and pops out of first. That sounds like it internal correct? What would be causing this? We put new 2,3 gears, new sleeves new synchros etc etc. Clutch is in perfect, adj up well for freeplay and the shifter linkages are adj quite nicely also. Thank guys..

Did you rebuild it yourself? Only asking because you might remember what the smal teeth on the outside of the gear looked like. Were the sliders replaced? When you engage the gear, assuming the linkage is correctly adjusted, the shifter fork moves the slider to engage the syncro and then the gear. If you have the tranny out remove the side cover and check the operation of the slider. One thing you can do is buy the Muncie video from www.5speeds.com and it will go over the whole process.
Good luck.

Sounds like the 1-2 slider is in backwards. The 3-4 slider is forward and the 1-2 slider is backward compared to the 3-4.

No, I didnt rebuild it myself, had it done. We believe the slider for 1 And 2 are in backwards also, just looking to confirm my theory. Thanks guys.

Could be the sliders look lilke a football when installed correctly. The original sliders are different,if you look at them one is tapered for clearence maybe you have tem misplaced? If memory is right the 1-2 slider needs the tapered slider. Replacement sliders are already machined for this so there is no confusion. All you might have to do is disassemble the main shaft and swap them.
