Hey guys, long time no comment, i've been lurking.
My search continues and i see that for the deal 'm looking for, I may have to get someone else to look at the car for me. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these companies that look at the car for the buyer and do a report, take pictures, test drive etc. I'm posting specifically to this forum because i dont want to know especially about someone's experience concerning say a 94, rather experience where the little characteristics of a c3 (79+) are important.
If you guys have had any experience with specific companies, please post here.
Thanks guys

I dont know what your looking for but Ive done this quite a few times.I dont make a living of it but I have done it a few times.I work on mostly c3s but have given collector car advice for years.:w

I was looking into this myself until someone else came and bought the car I wanted before I could get someone to look at it for me. Anyway...

Here's who I was going to use. www.i-van.org

International Vehicle Appraisers Network - go to their website, then click on the contact us button and you can scroll down to find their guy in the area where the car is located that you're looking at.

I've never used them so I can't vouch for them, but they seemed to be the best option that I found in my searchings.

You may be better off to ask a forum member here at CAC to look at a C3 -- if you can find one in the particular area. At least ask first. I'd always be happy to look in the San Antonio area!

The reason is simple: there are several quirks in C3's that a "generic" inspector may not notice. Especially rust at the back of the frame, and where the rear trailing arms connect to the frame. Also the top windshield frame. Anyhow, this will give you a flavor of what I'm talking about...

Page62,

Could you send me an e-mail? I would like to get in touch over a specific Corvette issue and I am in San Antonio as well.

Thanks,
CVT4ME

I found it very helpful utilizing the NCRS. When I found my car, it was 500 miles away...I looked up the local NCRS chapter and asked members who the best person in the area was to look at at C3. I got 8 responses and they all recommended the same place ( www.tonyscorvetteshop.com ). I still few down to see it 1st hand, but it was good to have somebody who knows these cars in and out to spend 3-4 hours looking at every detail for you...It cost me $250 for the inspection, but I have peace of mind...I think they also offer to do on-site inspections...but it may cost you a small fortune when you gotta pay for their travel expenses...

hemming magazines has loads of them listed.they are called apraisers.what is the value of the car? some of these guys are getting upward of around $1000.00 for there services if the car is not a high value car and 1/10th of the car value is going to an apraiser it may pay to inlist the free help of a member and put the 1000.00 aside for an missed problems over looked.
