I have a 2002 black roadster. A bird happened to do it's thing wich happened to land on the hood of my car. The bird "doo doo" was only on my car for about 1 hr before I washed it off, but it left a nice stain and what appears to be damage to the paint in the form of a dull smudge and some small but noticeble etched circles/rings. This is the second time this has happened. I have now two stains (more like damage to the paint) on the hood of my less than 1 year old car. Does anyone think that the factory paint on my car may be bad. I have never had this problem with any of the previous cars that i have ever owned.

Help.....

Never wipe bird doo off, contains sand/small rocks, spray it off.

is it in the paint or can you feel roughness when you wipe your hand over the spot?

I had the same problem happen a couple of months ago. Same results on my 82 which had a new paint job about a year and a half ago. Definitely in the paint. I've clayed it, cleaned it waxed it with no improvement. I just live with it on my hood. I agree, this only happens on my black cars but i don't believe it's a result of a bad paint job.
Hope you find a remedy.

Your first mistake is having a Tripleblack 6speed roadster.:L
Nice choice!
I try to keep several layers (about 25) of Zaino polish on my vette and stay away from under trees.
I have some stuff called "Black Magic" that is used commercially.
A buddy of mine works as a parts manager at car dealership and got the product for me.

When I first bought the car home, brand new from the dealer, the paint had a flaw on the nose, a big "cloudy haze" on the left front.
I did not want to take it to the dealer for fear they would make it worse. I tried this stuff and it worked. I was so impressed that I had to do the rest of the nose. What a difference!
The product is called "Granitize W-10" and does not contain silicone or wax.
The label says it can be used to clean lightly oxidized surfaces.
I polished the car right after the application.

The company is in California. If you want to try to reach them, the number is (213)923-5438
It says they've been in business since 1930.

Meguiar's also makes a swirl remover that may work.

By the way, you'll love what headers will do to your exhaust sound with the Corsa Indies, not to mention the increased power!

Best of luck.

Regards,
Pedro

Thanks for the replies....

yes i agree never just wipe off bird doo off of a car dry. What I did was wash it off with soap and lots of water...

corvettecrazy:
it is both in the paint now and yes i can feel slight roughness in spots within the stain....

c4ever:
I have had two other black cars (not vettes) and never has bird droppings stained my paint; not even if the droppings were left on for days before washing off. On this vette the bird dropping was on for less than 1 hr.

thanks for the info on this product...

At this point I don't know what to do. Thinking bout taking the car to the dealer or calling GM to complain and have them fix it or repaint....

any body else encounter this????

Taking it back to the dealer would be the last thing I would do.

I would be afraid that they would just amplify the problem and I've seen too many horror stories.

Try the least abrasive route first and see what happens. There are a lot of good products out there.

If you like, go visit a real good paint & body shop and see what they have to say.

Best of luck,
Pedro
