Painting brake calipers??

I think I made a mistake painting my calipers on my 96; painted them red. I used one of the epoxy kits from Mid America.

After a couple of days of open track driving at my local track I noticed the calipers were now black. I tried several cleaners and solvents but no luck.....apparently the heat just bakes in the brake dust......

My question is can I have the calipers powder coated with any better success.....???

Welcome to the CAC

That is an interesting problem. With the epoxy cured it would seem unlikely that the brake dust could be absorbed into it. I hope someone else can give you an answer to this as I was thinking of using this coating on one of my projects too. I'm not sure how powder coating reacts to the high temps you will see on brake parts.

I may try that VHT brake parts paint if that is what I can expect from the epoxy coating.
