I'm going to be painting my 73 roadster some time this summer. I have noticed there is wome wear marks where the hard and soft tops rest on the car on the back. Any solution to this? Do I need new weatherstripping? Do I need to tighten the latches that hold the tops down? Do I need to buy some protective strips for the car body (very unpleasing to the eye I would imagine)?;shrug

I have the same problem. I was thinking of buying the static cling plastic liner. I have one for the convertible and it does help keep the weatherstrip from discoloring the deck. I was thinking of using some moleskin as a liner under the hardtop. Good luck and keep us posted.

Check the various catalog companies because there are available clear strips for laying under either top. I had them for my 66 convertible and used them extensively. I had just painted my car and didn't want the wear/rub makrs. They are somewhat of a PITA though.

Anything to avoid rouging up a pricey paint job. I need to replace the weatherstripping on the hard top anyway. Hopefully I can find some protection that's somewhat less than an eyesore.
