Just a bunch of parts....
I have seen a few engine builds where the lifter galley and the area behind the timing chain were painted. I'm assuming that this aids in draining the oil back down to the pan.

Is this really worth the effort? If so, would you use regular engine paint?

Thanks

Helps to drain oil. Bwaahahahaha!

Painting in there is a pursuit of the truly anal retentive. Do it if it makes you happy -- but I'm a "that's good enough" kind of guy...

This is usually done in combination with grinding all the casting flash from the oil drain openings to improve oil flow back to the pan, but is unnecessary on a street engine. If you're going to do it, don't use regular paint; use "Glyptal" high-temperature oil-proof paint, made specifically for this purpose, available from Eastwood.
