Panel Removal

I am attempting to replace all the dash panels in my 77 now. The passenger side and dash were easy enough but I can't get the drivers side out. What all do I need to remove or un-hook to pull it out? I looked up there and WOW are there a lot of wires and stuff. Advise-instructions on removing drivers dash pad? Thanks, this forum has been great!

You are going to hate this answer but all of the dash has to be assembled and reassembled in a certain order.That order being,assembling it ,the upper dash pad goes in first then the drivers side dash then the center guage cluster then the pass side dash and last but not least the center console.Dissassembly is opposite.Its like a puzzle but it has to be done in order or else its a pita.

Zip has the instructions. Kind of a PITA. The only real problem is getting the pad around the collar on the steering wheel. Careful not to break it or it will be a $300+ lesson.

Also, good luck getting back there and pulling ght etachometer and speedometer cables from their respective gauges...

Well at least I started removing everything in the right order. The passengers side pad, dash, and gauge cluster console are out. I think the part where I got stuck was simply not removing the steering column retaining nuts. Thanks for the info guys. The Zip instructions make it look so easy compared to what I am experiencing. I think my next corvette will have to already have these type of things done or be in good condition. This interior project has turned into a more expensive project than I thought. I'm only half way done and have over $2500 in it. Replacement parts never fit quite like the originals and it's hard to get things done with only a couple hours a night. I'll give it another go tonight using the Zip instructions and let you all know. Again, thanks for the help. It is very much appreciated.

Cars and Parts Corvette did a 2 part article on removing the dash panels on a Shark. Good article with lots of pictures and advice. I think it was about 2 or 3 months ago.

I feel your pain because I did the exact same thing at about the same cost. Those interior panels, seat covers, etc, all add up quickly. The interior is just about done. Finish the door panels, recover the steering wheel and replace the sun visors is about all that is left.

I dyed a lot of the parts that were easy to remove and will eventually replace additional parts. I bought a new lower driver's side dash because I never want to have to take that out again.

Does 77 have vacumn switch on back of tach? I broke that when I disconnected wiring it pulled inside out, not an easy part to find replacement for.

No just a wire connector for the tach readings and some lights.
